Saturday was a fun day spent in the Twin Cities area with my mom and my sister. We started out at the thrift shop in the Sun Ray strip mall area. After several hours spent there, in addition to a store next door that is going out of business, a stop at TJMaxx and at Gordmans, and I ended the day with something like 12 shirts, 6 skirts, 2 pairs of shoes, and a couple new pieces of fun spring/summer jewelry. You can’t beat that! Here is a picture of some of my Day of Shopping Booty! Huzzah!
So, I lost my job last week. It was totally unexpected, and I was really sad and angry for a couple days. Needless to say, I got right back on the horse and started applying for new stuff that same night. Ended up getting an interview the following day, and I’m starting somewhere new next week. The office has a dog, so that’s very exciting. It’s a small office for a local company owned by a husband and wife, and I’m incredibly thankful that it came about so quickly. I’m hopeful that this will be my last job…but I’m not quite 30 (close, but no cigar), and who knows what the future will bring…there are a LOT of years ahead of me yet.
While I know I haven’t posted anything on here in a while, I have been doing an okay job of keeping stuff up on Twitter and Facebook. My FB account is pretty private, but Twitter is out there for all to see…track me down if you want: @stampin_hannah
Here are some pictures of my tiny owl collection. They make me happy (especially the one that glows and changes colors), so maybe they will also give you a little bit of happiness, too.
For realsies – When I discovered these a couple summers ago I was skeptic…doing a bun in hair that goes down past your waist usually requires either a whole package of regular bobby pins, OR a bun form of some kind. But these? Nope, not necessary at all. I can make it work with two, three is a little more stable, and four (top, bottom, and each side) makes for a nice tight bun that will not go anywhere. Even on slippery dry hair, these things are awesome. And the best part is that they don’t dig in to your scalp, and the bun doesn’t feel like it’s pulling your hair out at the roots. Best hair purchase in a looonnngg time! ♥
I love my job (what I actually do), and I love my coworkers (they’re the best) and I love the company I work for (really, I do – no sarcasm!) – but I tell you what…Being out for the better part of a week makes for a rough couple days back in the office!
This time I was out of town for a couple days last week (medical purposes, I won’t go into detail, ’cause it’s a looooonnnngg story), and just now today, Wednesday afternoon, I feel like I’m mostly back up and running at full capacity.
I started my position a couple years before my two counterparts joined the company, and my current boss/supervisor/whatever hasn’t ever actually done my job. She’s done a TON of stuff throughout the company in her many years here, but not my position specifically. Because of this, the way I was trained to do the job is different than she does/knows, and it’s also different than the two other ladies who essentially have the same job responsibilities that I do.
I usually feel like I end up doing 75% of what they did while I was out all over again, because I can’t make Heads ‘nor Tails of the notes they’ve made, etc. Obviously there isn’t anything wrong with the way they’re doing their own work, because we all arrive at the same conclusion/outcome in the end, it just makes it a bit tricky to get going quickly when I’ve been out for a couple days. I’m sure they’d say the same thing if I were to fill in for them while they’re out!
There, I feel better. Maybe another post later tonight? Maybe not.
I guess we’ll just have to play it by ear! ♪ ♫
